The drafting I've done so far is for this style, without the button back at this stage as I wanted to test my drafting with a (hopefully) wearable toile, before diving into drafting button plackets and facings....
I was weirdly nervous when I cut into my fabric. You kind of assume a commercial pattern is gonna work out because "they" know what they're doing. But this is the first test of my drafting from a block so I had a familiar twinge of self doubt (despite the simple design and the fact that everything looks perfectly alright!). But, feel the fear and do it anyway, right?! Hopefully should have my toile all finished up before the weekend :)
Oh and while I remember, don't forget, you have until Friday (Midnight GMT) to enter the giveaway :)
Oh, the precision! I aspire to such things. I love your little sketches. You have so much artistic talent. I can't draw a stick man.
ReplyDeleteI'm rubbish at drawing freehand, which is why I have to put all those little gridlines in place first (you can see them clearly in the scanned images). Without them my sketches would be totally out of proportion,lol!

ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I'm so excited for you! I drafted a skirt ages ago (before I discovered paper patterns!) and I was so happy even though the fit was a bit awkward XD. I'm sure yours will be great though. It looks really cute (Cos have a similar one where the collar ends in a bow) you can start doing all sorts of cool things like that once you've got the fit sorted. Can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteOooh yes! I agree the scope is endless and I have lots of plans. I have to restrain myself a little and do it stage by stage, which is how I learn best. Otherwise I easily lose focus and go off on all kinds of tangents before I've got the basics down properly.
